Alzheimer's is the most common form of dementia that houses in the nervous system. It is characterized by loss of some mental abilities. This loss lasts at least 6 months and will interfere with normal activities. No one is born with Alzheimer’s although it normally develops in old age. Alzheimer’s is found by a decline in mental functions including memory, reasoning, and the ability to plan (Levchuck). It is not known to be hereditary but some studies show that 15 in 100 people with Alzheimer's disease have a parent who has also been affected by Alzheimer's (Alzheimer’s disease). Alzheimer’s is extremely common and found in many elderly adults and is currently incurable.
